THE LEVIATHAN (2015) – Short Film of the Day

Ruairi Robinson’s The Leviathan has been in development as a feature film since this was released in 2015. Last I heard, 20th Century Fox were developing the feature length version of this, but what with the Disney acquisition it is hard to say what may become of that.

Anyway, this short did the rounds in 2015 but I feel what with the release of the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters and previous ‘Short of the Day’ posts, this is worth showcasing again for those who hadn’t seen it (or those who want to revisit it).

This is a proof of concept teaser from Irish director Ruairi Robinson (The Last Days of Mars) and from one of the screenwriters of Fight Club, Jim Uhls.

I recommend viewing this on the biggest screen you have, just to do this justice. It is amazing what they accomplished in this 5 minute short. One can hope we see a feature length version soon enough.

Here is the synopsis:

By the early 22nd century mankind had colonized many worlds. Faster than light travel was made possible by harvesting exotic matter from the eggs of the largest species mankind has ever seen. Those that take part in the hunt are mostly involuntary labor.
